Let's look at the origins of Valentine's Day, once upon a time, long ago and far away a Saint named Valentine did something ..blah, blah, blah....an enchanting, yet meaningless story that has probably been altered through the ages so that no one really knows what happened, exactly.
Now, to the present. What has Valentine's Day come to mean ? A day of Love with ceremonial gifts, including but not limited to, candy, flowers, jewelry, dinner, and or a card. I remember as a school boy it meant my Mom buying the Valentine's Day card box so I could spend an evening scratching the names of all my classmates on them. Finding the "special one" for that girl that...well, never really said more than "Hi" to me anyway.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if this ritual has been cast to the wayside under the banner of political correctness. Being summerized by some twisted mind as a form of sexual harassment
I don't celebrate Valentine's Day now with any particular event or trinket. I instead ,prefer to let my wife know how she makes me feel at opportune moments everyday like while standing in line, or at a red light. A simple yet heartfelt, " You have pretty eyes," while she fumbles for her keys at the door, always brings a smile. If I would have only known....back when I was just a school boy.

What a delightful story! I remember those cards! My husband and I were just talking about those days and we are so thankful we don't have to worry about "pick up" lines and rejections. Thanks for sharing. God Bless! TeresaThanks Teresa, I think everyone over a certain age can remember those cards. Maybe kids still do that ? I have no idea. Hopefully it brought back some fond memories for some.
